India needs to overcome challenges to fully establish its maritime presence, says President Murmu

President Droupadi Murmu of India highlighted the challenges faced by Chennai in fully exploiting its maritime potential. She mentioned the need to address infrastructural and operational challenges in the country's ports, such as depth restrictions and low operational efficiency. Murmu also emphasized the importance of mechanizing the fishing fleet and implementing the Sagarmala program for port-led development. Additionally, she stressed the need for the maritime sector to be agile in adapting to climate change.
